HUNTER AMOS EAKIN

Hunter is always making things, learning something or bringing art to life. I guess you could say nature his is canvas and the elements his medium. Every time I see the kid he is either painting, drawing, collecting or taking photo’s. If he isn’t doing this he is surfing, canoeing, skating, fishing or travelling with his adventurous family. His sun-kissed face sprinkled with freckles is the tell tale sign of his love for the outdoors while his salty blonde hair is the result of spending countless hours beneath the waves. At thirteen Hunter inspires me. Listening to him talk about his work or latest project I can’t help but get caught up in his excitement and contagious enthusiasm delivered with an honest smile of a boy truly happy.

WHY CREATE
I have grown up always having a creative space to make a mess and try all different materials. We’ve had lots of artists stay in our studio as part of our artist residency program so I’ve had the chance to learn a lot from some amazing people.

Paint and pen
ART STYLE
I try to give my paintings personalities. With the blokes on bottles I think of them as different characters with different stories.

It’s my quiet time, I don’t talk much when I’m painting.
