CHRISTMAS AT CAMP SEABIRD

Camping with the family is a true blue Australian Christmas tradition. On boxing day, a mass exodus hits the road to coastal caravan parks, country cabins and camping grounds. This Christmas, we wanted to share a really special family stay. One a little closer to home and the creation of Pony Rider, a bespoke home brand specialising in lifestyle goods. One of my all time favourites, actually, which is why I was so excited when they launched their first boutique stay in this month’s issue of Real Living.
Located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Camp Seabird is an original 1940’s cottage accessible only by boat. Surrounded by National Park, it takes only a five minute ferry or water taxi ride from the mainland to bring you to the rambling wharf of this magical getaway. Local folklore has it this was where sailors would find harbour from the storms. The locals that live here all year round meet often for book club in the local fire brigade hall, which is also acts as the town hall. It is hard to imagine that this peaceful and protected part of the world is only an hour or so from the Sydney CBD.
Camp Seabird is the brain child of Kelly Searl, founder and director of Pony Rider, mother to Max and Dylan, wife to Chris and also one of my dearest friends. Her love for quality family time and connecting with nature, slowing down to appreciate one another and the world around us is what makes this place the perfect family destination. Not to mention she has decked it out in true cool cabin Pony Rider style that might have you wanting to take a little home with you.
