Acne Studios Campaign | Fall '17
Over a holiday weekend in New York City, Acne Studios shot their latest campaign in a no-name hotel room. With a baby bottle on the side table, a frayed phone charger spilling into the shot, and a flexible ten-year-old in the splits as a backdrop, the fall collection sought to represent everyday family, the modern family- and succeeded.
The collection explores what family means in the contemporary world, how the idea is constantly being redefined without boundaries. "I wanted to portray households of today, in all constellations," Acne founder Jonny Johansson wrote. “There is no ‘normal’ family,” he added. “All families are normal.”
In the spirit of inclusivity, couple Kordale Lewis and Kaleb Anthony are the spirits of the campaign. The fathers and their four children, Desmiray (10 years old), Maliyah (9), Kordale Jr (8) and Kaleb Jr (6 months) represent more than just the Swedish fashion house. Here, they represent the modern family, shrouded in a bit of mess and surrounded by those they love.
The family flew into the spotlight a couple of years ago when they posted a photo on Instagram, combing their daughters' hair together in front of the bathroom mirror: "Being fathers is getting our daughters up at 5:30 am making breakfast getting them dressed for school and putting them on the bus by 6:30. This is a typical day in our household. It's not easy but we enjoy every moment and every minute of fatherhood.”
