How we met The Atlantic Family

With a solid recommendation from a close friend we checked into the lush coastal estate the Atlantic Byron Bay looking for some R&R. As much of that as you can expect two months pregnant and with a one year old but nonetheless we were ambitious. Walking around the grounds amongst the water dragons and native birds we could hear kids skating on a ramp close by. Something clicked and Sam remembered hearing that Grandpa Russ’s best friend Skipper had built a ramp for his grandsons who lived in Byron Bay. A phone call or two later we were being welcomed as only Kim knows how into their home and later their lives. The property you might recognise from the world’s best travel and home magazines where it is regularly featured. What isn’t often shown is the family behind the Atlantic.  Kim and Steven with their three boys Noah 14, Hunter 13 and Arlo 9 are the heart and soul of the property. Their love for life, family, the ocean and all things creative is clearly evident everywhere you look. At the risk of sounding trippy it is an energy. Their good vibes can be felt at check in. For me it has become a sanctuary. A place to regroup, focus and be inspired. A creative shelter of sorts fuelled by Kim’s passion for life, adventure and creative spirit. Steven’s calming presence and wise words give me balance and the boy’s incredible kind heart’s and ridiculous talent’s make me smile and wonder. For my family it is a place of complete happiness. My children actually think that the Atlantic is another home and that the boys are their siblings. When we are with them Sam and I are motivated and inspired to be better parents. To dive into life and share the world with our children. To think a little differently, to teach, to share, to encourage all possibilities
